Dolomites

The Dolomite rock face reflects the rays of the setting sun and shines in various shades of orange and red. Here, the passion for mountains reaches its climax and inspires the spirit.

Val di Fiemme

The Val di Fiemme is located in the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage site, on the Avisio river, and is surrounded by mighty rocky massifs and the Nature Park Paneveggio. This area is particularly known for its spruce trees – from which wonderful wooden instruments can be made. In fact, Violin makers all over the world use spruce wood to make their instruments.

Ziano

The hotel offers easy access to some of the region’s main attractions: from Sadole with the Tre Cime della Guerra, where our legendary polenta feast takes place, to Cavelonte with the remains of the thermal complex built in the mid-19th century. The cycle path, which runs right past the hotel, takes you to all the villages in the valley – on foot and on two wheels.

An important rock painting (petroglyph) was discovered on a rock face on the Latemar. The countless inscriptions were most likely made during the summer months by the shepherds. They include abbreviations, signs, small decorative elements, cattle tales, and pictures of animals and were probably created between the middle of the 17th century and the beginning of the 20th century. They are located along the most important routes that lead up to the high mountain pastures.

Villa Flora in Ziano di Fiemme, the former headquarters of the commander of an Austro-Hungarian mountain troop, now houses an exhibition on the First World War. It was created for the 100th anniversary. Following the success of the first part of the exhibition on 1914, a second part of the exhibition on 1915 will open in summer. It will detail how the inhabitants of Val di Fiemme fared during the war. In addition, the fallen are to be honoured and the cultural heritage of the valley is to be preserved.

Paneveggio

The natural park Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino is a protected natural area in Trentino-Alto Adige. The real peculiarity of the Paneveggio Natural Park are the resonance fir trees where the most famous sound boxes in the world can be obtained. The protected area is also the kingdom of the deer, which can be admired in its splendor in the Park. Above the woods and the alms, where you can taste butter and cheeses, the Dolomites Pale di San Martino stand out, with bright colors in contrast to the dark rocks of the wild Lagorai.

Marcialonga

The Queen of the Italian Granfondo of cross country skiing in classical technique that takes place on the last Sunday of January in the valleys of Fiemme and Fassa, framed by the majestic Dolomites, which make Trentino one of the most visited regions of Europe.

A race born in 1971 from the Passion of 4 friends, including our grandfather Nele, who after attending the Vasaloppet in the far 1969 have decided to organize an event similar to their home, in the valleys of Fiemme and Fassa.

It is not a simple event, or a weekend of celebration but rather of culture, involving everyone, from children of kindergarten to teachers of schools to arrive to pensioners and workers of all kinds and ages. There are over 1300 volunteers who each year participate with passion and dedication to the events organized by Marcialonga, and it is thanks to them that all this can take place. Marcialonga thus becomes a real opportunity to gather and be together, the occasion in which the people of two neighboring valleys, different and sometimes rivals, put aside the paratrooper pride and are united to create a great event.

From several years we are Marcialonga Friend hotel
